001   :   youth.       jeon jung—hwa was born into a house filled with music, with his father being a producer and his mother constantly filling their home with song. his childhood was average, but happy —— hours spent at his mother’s feet in the kitchen, or on his father’s lap in his home studio.002   :   TEENAGE YEARS.       it was no wonder that jung—hwa’s life turned in that direction. debuting in the six—member boy group ‘ CHECKMATE ’ at the age of fifteen as the lead vocalist and maknae, he dropped the hyphen and used junghwa as his stage name. while the group struggled for some time to become popular, it was a song titled ‘ wayback ’ that featured jung—hwa’s vocals heavily that helped to boost their numbers. CHECKMATE had a steadily—growing run for three years until tragedy struck, when jung—hwa was eighteen. his mother was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. jung—hwa took a long hiatus from the group before and after his mother’s passing, and when he eventually came back to the group, things weren’t the same. jung—hwa’s father had grown distant and cold, when the boy had needed him most. jung—hwa was more withdrawn as a result. CHECKMATE disbanded shortly after jung—hwa’s twenty—first birthday, with the other members seeking contracts within the company or elsewhere.003   :   PRESENT.       jung—hwa disappeared from the spotlight for awhile, and it was years before he reemerged, although not in a good light. he was constantly spotted at clubs, and even involved in a scandal with an omega in which they were caught having sex in an alley outdoors. jung—hwa’s father was furious with him, said scandal quickly covered up and the rebellious alpha given a berating behind the scenes. a few months after jung—hwa’s twenty—sixth birthday, it was reported that he’d signed with starship entertainment, and soon after came out with his first solo single, ‘ SEVEN ’. he also pre—released ‘ STILL WITH YOU ’ a few months after that, and came out with his first solo album, two months after his twenty—seventh birthday, entitled ‘ GOLDEN ’. after successful promotions, it’s now being rumored that there’s a solo tour in the works, along with a second solo album sometime next year.
